FREE STATE

The Free State is completely different to any of the other areas mentioned,Habitat Free Statethe reason is that it is open plains with no trees. Small trees and scrub do occur along the riverbeds and between the rocky outcrops on mountainous areas. The species occurring in these areas are completely different to those found in the bushveld type habitats. Typical species one can expect to see in this environment is Springbok, Blesbok, Black Wildebeest (White tailed Gnu), Cape Eland and Gemsbok (Oryx). The hunting here can be compared to that of the American mid west - long shots but much easier than that of the bushy terrain mentioned in the Northern Province. It is not unusual for trophy hunters to harvest 10 - 12 species on a 7 day hunt. The quality of trophies taken in our concession is exceptional (see our Gallery section) If one travels to the west, the habitat changes gradually to Khalahari Thorn veld, bringing us back to where we started in the Northern Cape. Although this type of habitat have quite large trees scattered all over the habitat never closes up as in true bush veld.

If you are the true hunter, hunting on foot, this is where you can except the challenge to hunt the open plains game species.

NORTH & NORTH-WEST PROVINCES

The most elegant of trophies

The North and North-West provinces are certainly the areas most hunted by foreign clients. The areas are diverse in vegetation, landscapes and species. Depending on species, you can hunt in mountainous terrain and quite flat dense bushveld. Species common to these areas are Kudu, Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Warthog, Klipspringer, Giraffe, Bushbuck, Waterbuck and Oryx. Trophies are excellent and of very high standard.

The Habitat differ from thick really dense bush to open savanna with scattered trees. Along rivers the riverine forest provide the ideal habitat for Bushbuck and Nyala, the real challenge for the connoisseur.
